Lehigh Valley to have more rail lines in the future?

With the freight rail yard in south Bethlehem being considered as an inland port that would have a direct rail connection to the Atlantic Ocean, and the arrival of dozens of massive distribution centers across the Lehigh Valley, the timing of the study couldn’t be better, said Becky A. Bradley, executive director of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission.

“The timing is right because we’re at the head of a perfect storm — but a good perfect storm,” Bradley said. “We know growth is coming, so it’s a good time to take a look at what we have, the quality of the infrastructure and how we have to invest for growth in the future.”
